My name: Veronika Khariv

 My hometown: I was born in L’viv, Ukraine…but I am currently living in Smithville, NJ.

 My high school: Absegami High School

 My Major: Double Majoring in Chemistry and Biology

 My hobbies/interests: I LOVE to shop! I like to read, listen to music, nap, watch movies, play tennis, and doing girly things! I love being around my friends, laughing and having a good time!

Why I came to NJIT: I came to NJIT because it of its intimate setting and small campus. NJIT is perfect for an education in the sciences and has many beneficial research opportunities. The student to teacher ratio is fantastic and I also have an opportunity to take courses at Rutgers Newark. It’s also close to the city, which is always a good thing!

 Clubs, groups I belong to: NJIT student Ambassador, student administrative assistant in the Provost Office, President of the American Chemical Society NJIT Chapter, undergraduate research involving the destruction of methane with Professor Lev Krasnoperov 

What I love most about NJIT: The fact that it’s hard to not know anyone! Due to the fact that NJIT is such a small campus, I always recognize someone no matter where I am!

 My advice to you as a first year student: Do not hide in your room! Come out and socialize. Friends make the college experience even more so enjoyable than it already is!
