Open Partnership

The Open Partnership.......Linking women in academe, industry & government

NJIT’s Open Partnership initiative facilitates the flow of information across sectors in order to increase collaboration and partnership opportunities among women in academia, industry and government.

Launched in May of 2006 by NJIT’s provost, Dr. Priscilla P. Nelson, the Partnership brings together women research faculty, executives from business and industry, and representatives from NJ state government to identify fruitful forms of collaboration in three broad areas:

  • Cross Sector People Exchanges
  • Cross Sector Research Collaborations
  • Cross Sector Interactive Data Exchange

The April 2007 Open Partnership conference featured a keynote speech by Angie McGuire, Deputy Chief of the New Jersey Governor’s Office of Economic Growth.

Conference panel members included

  • Nancy Czesak, First Vice President, Tishman Construction
  • Swroop Sahota, Vice President, Global Quality Operations, Schering Plough
  • Janet George Murnick, President, UV Solutions, Inc.
  • Sirin Tekinay, Associate Professor, NJIT Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, and Program Director for Theoretical Foundations in Communications Research at the National Science Foundation

In addition to hosting face-to-face planning meetings, the Open Partnership will soon facilitate virtual communication among its members using SyncusTM, a new knowledge-sharing tool being developed especially for the Partnership.

Via its website, the Partnership disseminates advanced information about hot topic technology workshops and seminars. To list your event on the Partnership site, please contact Talina Knox at or 973-642-4671.

The Open Partnership also functions as a clearinghouse for cross-sector internship opportunities, brokering connections between industry and a pool of qualified, professional NJIT doctoral, masters, and undergraduate women students.  To post your internship or summer job opportunities on the Partnership website, please contact Talina Knox at or 973-642-4671.
